Three consecutive bullish candles similar to Three White Soldiers, but the third candle becomes a spinning top (very small body). It indicates hesitation in the advance and suggests the trend is losing momentum. The extremely small body of the third candle represents exhausted buying power. Like the Advance Block, it is one of the false patterns for Three White Soldiers.

Formation Conditions

  • A downtrend or consolidation must precede the pattern
  • Three consecutive bullish candles must appear
  • Each candle's close must be higher than the previous close
  • The first and second candles must have sufficiently large bodies
  • The third bullish candle must be a spinning top (very small body)
  • The third candle should open near the second candle's high

Entry Condition

Enter short at the next candle's open after the third spinning top confirms. Verify the third candle's body is clearly smaller than the first and second.

Target Calculation

Project the combined range of the three bullish candles downward from the third candle's close. Or target near the first candle's open.

Stop Loss Rule

Place a stop-loss slightly above the third candle's high.

Volume Profile

A sharp volume decline on the third candle indicates buying exhaustion and enhances pattern reliability. Conversely, increased volume with a small body suggests rising selling pressure.

False Signal Detection

  • If a large bullish candle appears after the spinning top, the pattern is negated
  • During a strong uptrend, the spinning top may be a temporary pause
  • If the third candle has virtually no shadows, it may just be a small bullish candle rather than meaningful
  • Non-clear volume patterns reduce reliability
  • If the preceding trend was weak, effectiveness as a reversal signal is low
